To setup VNC on Linux you will need to install x11vnc.
Then to run the x11vnc server run:
x11vnc -rfbauth /root/.vnc/passwd -auth /var/gdm/:0.Xauth &
you can also drop this into the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file
